As a yoga teacher (15 years) and a yoga practitioner (30 years), I have recently discovered that what I was teaching as Passive Yoga and Meridian stretching all these years actually has a name: Yin Yoga.
I was also teaching a more active yoga form of movement-flow sequences which I today call the Yin side of Yang.
Adding me being a recognised Body Therapist (21 years) in Switzerland in the methods: Shiatsu, Craniosacral and Trager, the many schools I frequented (see my CV) my previous experiences as a dance teacher and my long love for anatomy, I have today all the tools necessary to teach Yin Yoga with the profound understanding of some of its topics: Asanas Teachings, Fascia and Connective Tissue, Individual Anatomy, Meridian System, Fluids System and Relaxation.
Working with props (inclusive floor and walls) has always been an indispensable part of my teaching in order to deepen into the asana and/or alleviate discomfort, because: “everyone has the right to get more freedom with his/her own Body”.
I have listed here below some of the schools and courses I have sporadically or regularly frequented:
• (almost) first and most influential yoga teacher, the Yogi Yossi Ben-Yossef
• visiting Sivananda Center in Geneva (courses and a workshop)
• one week of Sivanada yoga in Wallis (CH)
• a week of yoga and Feldenkreis (CH)
• classes taken in Iyengar Yoga Institute in New York City
• classes taken in Dharma Yoga Center and many other Schools in New York City (group and private classes)
• one week workshop with Diane Long (Scaravelli Yoga) (I)
• Kundalini Yoga lessons with Reinhard Gammenthaler
• different schools* in Switzerland, Europe, Israel and the USA (Group and private classes)
• Yin Yoga foundations workshop with Sebastian Pucelle (F)
• Yin Yoga and Anatomy with Markus Henning Giess (DE)
• Exploring the path of the Yin Yoga Teacher with Biff Mithoefer (USA)
• Original Yin Yoga, Faszien & Meridiane with Dirk Bennewitz and Andrea Kubasch (D)
• and my very best friends: Yoga Books in all languages from the 20th to 21st century
• and the daily practice/experiment hours in my own Yoga Studio
Today I have developed different kinds of Yoga: Yin Yoga, Yin Yang Yoga, Yoga Theraphy. For more information about the different Yoga styles, see the respective page here on revitalumatar.
